  1. I loved your book (Medicine & Miracles int eh High Desert) so much! We’re close in age, you’re a few years ahead of me, but I found myself check pointing the times and places in my own life in contrast to yours. We’re truly the sum of all the experiences of our lives, as well as the different lives that have touched ours. Thanks for a great Book!! I am sending it to my daughter – she’s a real trail riding horse girl so I know she will enjoy it.

Thank you for sharing some of your life in this book. God bless.

    • Thank you for your comment, Scott. I’m so happy you enjoyed the book. I’m just now finishing the manuscript for the second memoir and hope to find a publisher. It’s called “From Mountains to Medicine: My Search for Purpose.” In any case, I appreciate you letting me know your feelings about my book. Many blessings, Erica

      • I’ll be looking for that one! BTW – I’ve crossed paths with coyotes a couple times while hunting up in the mountains of north Georgia. In both cases they never even looked at me and just continue on their way as though on a mission, even though we were within 20 feet of each other. 🙂

  2. Heard you on Coast to Coast in the middle of a sleepless night. Was intrigued. Bought your book and loved it! Almost envied your experiences.

    • I so appreciate you reaching out to me and telling me about reading my book. I’m happy you liked it. You might enjoy some of my blog posts too. Some are excerpts from future memoirs and some are about cutting edge topics in medicine. Many blessings to you, Heidi. Erica

  3. I heard you on Coast to Coast and ordered your book. We had a family sheep and alfalfa outfit in The San Luis Valley for many years. Your comments on becoming a part of a different culture struck home.
When my dad returned from The war building airstrips in the South Pacific as a Seabee, he ended up showing people on the reservation how to operate heavy equipment. He loved the people and talked often about their great sense of humor. Many came to his funeral and told me funny stories of his dealing with the people. One said to me, “We will miss your dad”.

  4. Hello Erica I just listened to you reading your Medicine and Miracles book and it inspired me to reconnect with you. We crossed paths at the Cuba Health Center in 1987. I was a nurse there but left in 9/87. I became a nurse midwife, practiced for 10 years at UNMH and then got my FNP license I have spent the last 20 years back at the Cuba Health Center (believe it or not!). I would love to have a chance to meet with you again in person sometime Your energy and courage has always impressed me and your book touched me on many levels. I look forward to reading your blog

    • OMG!! That’s amazing, Elena. Someday I would love to hear about your last 20 years of service at the CHC. WOW!! I was touched by your words. Thank you. Many blessings, Erica.

      • Hullo Elena,
Just sending my admiration and respect for all you have done taking care of folks and studying to have even more skills to take care of folks, Glad ou are on this site as perhaps you may also see a few ways to care for yourself, too! If you want to check out my Feldenkrais zoom classes (for backs, shoulders, expanding breathing without efforting!) be my guest!

  5. Hi Erica,

Loved reading your book (your blog!!), my daughter (Med school @ Penn State loved it too) and our family (Betsy, Donal, Lynn etc) has thrived with your good care, medical and wellness protocols.
Finally getting the blog!! Sheesh! Wishing you much wellness, laughter, sunshine…and peace during these times.
    Sarah

    • How lovely to get your message, Sarah. I’m so happy you and your daughter enjoyed reading the blog posts. Thanks for all your good wishes. I will take them to heart. Many blessings and warm hugs, Erica

  6. I enjoyed reading your story. I was just up the road at Rough Rock when you were at Chinle. What an experience you had that is for sure. I am retired from Diné College in 2017, living in Pine Springs where I grew up. Many blessings to you,
    Lorene

  7. Dear Dr. Elliott,
I am a young Italian writer, very fond of Native American culture. I’ve just come across your book “Medicine and Miracle in the high desert”. I’m writing my second book about the Navajo and Kinaaldá. The first one was about the Shawnees. Do you have any recommendations for books about Navajo medicine in the 19th century? Or some infos that I can use? I’ve read about your experience of living there for a while, my dream actually, although I don’t know how things have changed in the last years.
I’ve tried to send you this message through your website, but it didn’t work.

    Thanks for any support!

Greetings from Germany (I live in Bavaria)
    Cristina

  8. OMG!!! this is amazing!! Love your work!! I am very inclined, driven, drawn to holistic medicine but i don’t know where to begin!! No medical background except for a certification in medical interpretation and I am a Reiki practitioner, soon to be Life Coach. I live in Memphis…. which there is a lot of metaphysical .. went to Sedona and took a course on Reiki Release Healing…. somehow I am also interested in Native American healing. Glad I found you by “coincidence”

    Do you teach?

    • Dear Maricarmen, I’m so happy that you are finding my blog posts useful—especially the medical ones. I wrote them as a public service and love to hear that people are finding them helpful. Congratulations on becoming a Life Coach. Regarding you questions about me teaching–I used to give workshops, but now my medical practice is so busy, that I haven’t made time for it. If you are interested in Native American healing, I think you will enjoy my recently published book, “Medicine and Miracles in the High Desert.” It’s available on Amazon. Many blessings to you, Erica

    • Hi Erica
I feel compelled to write. I am halfway reading your fabulous Memoir which I randomly chose from my kindle library. I have just read that you met RC Gordon. I have to tell you we have his lithograph Eli 11 which my bro in law left to me when he passed away because I loved it so much. I Have always had a feeling of affiliation with the Indian people and have painted a picture of Sacajawea after reading Anna Lee Waldo’s amazing book. I am Australian living in Aust. I travelled across America (Indian country) by myself in 1973. I’m loving yr story and so glad I chose to read it
      Thank you , Lyn xx

      • Dear Lyn, I feel moved after reading your email. How amazing that you randomly chose my book to read and that you have RC Gorman’s lithograph, and your sense of affiliation with the Native American people. I’m so happy that you’re enjoying the book. If the spirit moves you, I would be grateful if you’d write a review on Amazon….but only if you feel like it. Thanks so much for taking the time to write to me. Many blessings, Erica

        • So thrilled to receive yr reply Erica. I will certainly write a review of your wonderful memoir. Thank you again. I travel each year and if I’m ever in your location would love to catch up at one of your talks. Best wishes Lyn

          • That would be great, Lyn. I wonder if the book has any potential for appealing to other readers like you in Australia. The message seems relevant in these divisive times we live in. Many good wishes, Erica

          • Hi Erica
I think your book would be well received here in Oz.
I will send you an email address of one of our major newspapers Editors who writes editorials on authors and their new books. Maybe a foot in the door. Lyn

  9. I heard your interview on NPR on Monday and I am already well into your book. I haven’t been in this part of the country since the 70’s, but I will be back soon. Looking forward to a trip into the Canyon of the Canyon.

    • Hi Jim, I think you’ll love Canyon de Chelly. Since you need a tour guide, I highly recommend Adam Teller. His family lives in the canyon. You could find him on the internet. Many good wishes, Erica

  10. I saw you read from your book 5/19/19.I was so glad that you wrote your memoir. I am also pleased you brought up quantum physics as a connecting concept because reading about quantum entanglement and such has changed my life. I believe that we have only begun to understand the earth and that Navahos and other Indians may know more about science than everyone else.

    • Rhinda, thank you for your comments about the reading and for sharing with me the impact quantum physics has had on your life. It’s clear that you totally get what I was talking about. With many good wishes, Erica

  11. I just learned of your practice Dr. Erica Elliott through a friend now living in Santa Fe. Thanks for working with environmental illnesses and beyond. I am one of the canaries trying to find a “safe” enough home to live. I have a question. Do you have experience with or perspective on LENS Neurofeedback. Any resources or links that you value/trust would be most appreciated.

    • Thank you for your comment, Jill. I don’t usually answer medical questions in this forum, but I can say that neurofeedback can be very beneficial. I have done it myself with great benefit. If you go through my past medical posts, you will see that I have talked about it in several places. Many good wishes to you, Erica

  12. hi erica – something happened (and I have no idea how this happened or when) and I have no longer been receiving the email notifications of your news posts….very distressing. I don’t know if this is some kind of chronic problem and others are missing out on all of this beauty but thought I’d re-enlist and let you know that something, somewhere is amiss.

    love you….sidney

    • ps – I check my spam folder regularly and there has never been anything in there relating to you or the blog.

      me again

    • I don’t understand why this is happening to so many of the readers. But, I suggested to my sister that she go back through her emails and find the last email notification that a new blog was posted and then put that email address in her contact list. That seemed to solve the problem. There are so many glitches with this server. I’m really sorry. Love, Erica

      • and, it’s been over 24 hours since I re-entered my email address to get added back on and I have not received a confirmation email……….I’ll try your suggestion.

  13. Hello,I wish I could have been a patient of yours before you stopped taking new patients. But I am greatful for your website and the knowledge you have passed on through it. I was pretty close to giving up on life. You have inspired me to keep trying to get well.Thank you, Ronda

    • Dear Ronda, I so wish I could take you on as a patient, but my practice is very full. I’m relieved that you won’t give up and will keep trying. If you want some inspiration, you could read the ten-part series I wrote about a snowboarding accident. The beginning few posts are very disturbing but then the story evolves into transformation which I hope will give you some useful tools and inspiration. I went back in time and relived that nightmare by writing it down in hopes that the story would help others who suffer terribly. Here’s to your journey toward wellness. With love, Erica

  14. Listened to Winter of Wellness and wanted your blog of wisdom. Would “Charlotte’s Web” be good for arthritic pain in knees? Right now, I’m just taking Tylenol. Thank you so much for sharing.

  15. I thoroughly enjoyed your sharing on the Shift Network’s 2016 Winter of Wellness this week, and as a result am subscribing to your blog. Bless you for the amazing commitment and authenticity you’ve brought to your work and walk with in your Life. Blessings!
